This unique and highly versatile power supply has a wide variety of uses, and can power most discharge tubes such as Crookes tubes, Geissler Tubes and spectrum tubes. The coil features a hard plastic blue/black enclosure with clear viewing windows in front and back. A Neef type interrupter is located on the left side, and serves to induce high voltage in the secondary windings of the coil. The coil is permanently sealed and features polymer embedded insulating layers. The interrupter features a large spark pad, heavy recoil spring and a click stop for fine frequency adjustments. The top (right) terminal supplies AC output, While the right side terminal supplies DC output. The top left terminal is COM / Gnd. This unit is supplied with 2 aluminum terminal bindings that slide into the upper 4mm sockets. Two point and a flat disc type discharger are included. Dischargers include non-conductive acrylic handles. Requires 6-10 Volt power source such as a battery or laboratory power supply.

Input: 6-10 Volts DC at 4 Amps max.
Dimensions: 11" x 4" x 8"
Weight: 6.1 lbs.
Operational Interval: Extended run times of up to 10 minutes.

Complete setup and operating instructions are included.

    A Reliable, Non-Solid State, Coil

Posted by William DiPuccio on Feb 5th 2018

Using two 6v lantern batteries in series, this induction coil produces sufficient voltage to power spectrum tubes, produce a spark at least 1.5" long, and demonstrate coronal discharge. Probably much sturdier than my previous solid-state coil which failed not long after I bought it (from another vendor).

Nicely made version of an old favorite

This well made induction coil functions perfectly, with an exposed Neef vibrator and capacitors but an enclosed coil. Interesting alternative to solid state power supply. The DC outlet is especially welcome.
