Product Overview
Complete setup instructions and sample experiment included. The Hoffman Electrolysis Apparatus is used for the qualitative and quantitative study of the electrolytic decomposition of electrolytes such as water and hydrochloric acid. When fully assembled, this large demonstration device measures @24" in height. The unit consists of two vertical 50ml graduated glass tubes, with stopcocks at the top. The vertical tubes are joined by a bridging tube to a central reservoir. Each vertical tube is fitted with an electrode that extends through a rubber stopper, so that only the electrode comes in contact with the electrolyte. External connections are facilitated by two screw terminals (positive and negative) mounted on a cast iron base. The support stand is designed for safe and simple clamping. Delicate glass parts are packaged in a custom styrofoam storage box for safe transport and storage.
Carbon electrodes are included with the device by default and unless otherwise selected. You may select your electrode type (Carbon or Platinum) when adding this item to the shopping cart.
Requires a 6 - 12V low voltage D.C. power source for operation such as a battery or laboratory power supply (not included).
